What's this french obsession with Islam? It's not the first time I see Europeans being smug and talking about Islam(their favorite foreign subject, besides china and USA) Are Europeans so fragile about their cultural self-esteem, they have to cross continents to compare themselves with poor muslims barbarians and islam whenever they want feel good about themselves? Some europeans have this borderline mentally ill fixation with islam and muslims, and the "Other". It's as if westerners have this disturbing fascination with the "inferior" east.

I remember when berlusconi said something heavier and what else.

I'm not addressing this to you between, but I've seen a general tendency amongst westerners to blurt out smug comments out of the blue. You know that majority of muslims don't have this obession with the west, only when it concerns things that actually affect them. It's the naricisstic behavior of some deeply insecure cultures. Is because muslim countries are the most anti-globalist and the most resistance to western global leadership? The most obsessed are probably nationalist slavs. Who have to constantly prove their cultural/ethnic superiority 24/7.

What a storm you made from a pea's fart. Anthea just asked me if I am converted and I said NO.

Beside this, if we except the fact that I studied with a passionate love Islamic arts, civilization and philosophy, I am not obsessed at all

I don't care if muslims or jews don't eat pork (too BAD for them) or if Buddhists don't eat meat (they are fine people but meat is too good). They eat their dried meat or their vegetables if they like. I enjoy my Pork sausages.

But you seem to consider that Islam is not a Westerner religion, though it is in fact : The same biblical roots, the same conception of a God which is a creator and a judge, with ideas of Good and Evil : be sure that for a confucianist or a taoist Chinese, you are a pure Westerner.

But you're right : Europeans are obsessed by islam invaders as before they were by 'tricky Jews'. Now muslims are obsessed by 'jewish zionist plots' and CIA agents. Each groups have its 'hidden enemies'.

Really? Do you hear what others speak? Wherever you go, you hear and read what people say. The internet is full of such people and a better representative of opinions.

It has abrahmic roots, but that's where the similarities end. Unless you want to claim christianity is a european religion, it makes no sense. Muslim mindset is entirely different.

The difference only is that CIA is involved in middle-eastern buisness, and lots of neo-cons are jews. Some european countries and america have already pledged money to FSA. While the majority of muslims in europe have no such agenda nor power. Salafists is another story. When is the last time a middle-eastern/west-asian country was involved in a european country? 200 years ago?

Christianity is nothing but a Jewish heresy mixed later with Greek philosophy and Aristotle and Plotinus 's inheritance and a few Iranian/Mesopotamian influence. Islam is a surgeon of these Jewish-christian heresies later mixed with Greek philosophy and Aristotle and Plotinus 's inheritance and a few Iranian/Mesopotamian influence.

Try to apply Aristotle to Tao or Buddhism thoughts and you shall see the real cultural difference… A Chinese or an Indian man can not even understand what we mean by the 'starting point of Creation and Time', and the Last judgement, and hell and paradise…

When is the last time a middle-eastern/west-asian country was involved in a european country? 200 years ago?

Bosnia, Albania are muslim countries. And if Russia is considered as European, then there is a European Islam. The same issue concerning Caucasus : European or Asian ? Armenia is European or not ? If Turkey enters in UE, Turks will be Europeans, as Kurds ! The point is that the border between Europe and Asia does not exist. It is an imaginary view, with no geographic reality.

Now more important than religious political debate, here is the final results of my pie :

http://vitanova.blogspot.fr/2013/06/tou ... de-la.html

Brown a sliced onion and melt it with pork and beef ground meat. Add 2 eggs, hot barbecue sauce, salt, pepper and cumin. Put in a pan a shortcrust pastry. Put the meat on it.

On the meat, add slices of black pudding, and on them, slices of apples. Then end with slices of cheese, like cheddar, gouda, or any cheese for hamburgers.

Put on the pie a puff pastry, and close the pie carefully. Dig a chimney on the top and paint the pastry with an egg yolk .

Let it cook in an oven (moderate fire) from 45 mn to 1 hour. Then let it stay in the oven until it becomes tepid. Take it out of the oven and wait a bit for taking it out the pan.

You can eat it warm or cold, with a salad, ketchup, hot barbecue sauce, etc.

Bosnia, Albania are ottomanized but not really muslim. They're about as muslim, as I am a real westerner. I've never considered them real muslims, neither do most middle-easterners. Between, what the ottomans (who colonized other muslim nations) had nothing to do with shiahs f.ex , it was some turkish oghuz self-jerkery. As for armenia and kavkazians they have their own categorey, they're caucasian, neither european nor asian.

Also "russia" doesn't exist, it's a federation of different nations being forced to live under muscovite empire, or have their countries destroyed like chechenya. unless you're going to call kavkazians and central asians, and tatars, russians. Which is a big cop out, because russians are only slavs.

You have to be kidding me, no border between europe and asia? Even greeks diffrentated themselves from asians(which is where the term "asian" and "european" come from. Only people who believe hellenist age was a golden age of harmony believe that. Greeks in west-asian cities, segregated themselves from the rest of the population, hence why aramaic and hebrew survived, and this is told by greek historians and scholars themselves.

Middle Easterner are not the unique model of muslims. After all, the most important muslim population is not in Middle East but in South Asia. There is not a single one islam but many, the same for 'christianities' for both religions are longing for an original unity which has never existed in their own history..

Ate a piece of my pie : very tasty, the flavors of cumin, apple and black pudding are great.

Roflmao, you're hilarious, so casual about geopolitical discussions, and switching over to food. You're not even a part of the fickle facebook generation. But i guess it has to be culture.

I remind you that it was at first a post about MY PIE.

And YOU intervene off-topic about such minor issues as Islam, Christianity, Europe, bad guys, good guys… Politely I answer but I don't lost my main real important topic : How to make a good pie ?

But you're right concerning culture : for French people, cooking and drinking are our real religion. We care more about than than politics or religions.

Yet somehow our cooking is superior, but our politicians are idiots, while the reverse is true for france.

Not at all sure how my little quip "Does that mean you are not converting to Islam :ymdevil:" turned into a full bloodied decussion on Islam 8-}

There are many many different pies. Those with a boiled egg were eaten traditionally for Easter, because it was the first day after the Lent when people have the right to eat meat and eggs.

I made one the last Easter Day. We have eaten it cold with a lemon-parsley cold cream. Such pies are eaten slightly warm or cold.
