Wow what luck finding this site. so informative.

I was born in South Africa, to english parents, have fallen in love with a kurdish man and I live in Austria. Quite a mouthful. I went on the site because I am looking for a beautiful kurdish name for my daughter who will be born in 5 weeks. I adore the kurdish culure and people.

In Austria there are so many kurdish people that have left turkey because of the hardships they face. I hav been with my boyfriend for over 2 years and he has only now started opening up to me. He wants nothing more than to be with his people but has to try and make a life for himself here.

The pregnancy was an unexpected surprise and his family wont accept her, so we have no real future. That is why I want her to have something of his. And being a girl there is no hope. But we are soul mates and she was concieved in love, greatest love of my life, and in life sometimes we just have to accept the way things are.

I would also love to make friends as I have no family in Austria. And all my friends are kurdish, and we communicate in german, so its a bit hard. Especially since german isnt our mother tounge.

Ofcourse you must be strong,like Siver said.Because the God loves strong people.
Family of my husbond also was not very happy of me at first,but now everything is fine.
For girl i like most of the name Nasrin- flower.

I see you call him "Boyfriend" - this may be the reason why his family hasn't yet accepted you: you should get married - a child born outside of marriage is considered illegitimate by Muslims (Kurds are traditional Muslims - mostly - and that is why you'll have to work on gaining acceptance from them in your situation (as a non-Muslim woman who's having a child outside of marriage)... The best cure for their prejudice and suspicion is that you marry their son (your boyfriend - the father of your child) - and spend time with them (his mother, sisters and other women in his family)...

Excuse my question - but are you a black South African, a white South African or an asian South African?

There are many beautiful Kurdish given names for both male and female...

For a girl - I think I like these names:

You seem independent yet very loving , well all I have to say is , you should highly think about getting married , because with time everybody accepts unless his family is really staunch , thats also a factor . My one cousin fell inlove with a white girl but his parents are really staunch and would not allow it but on the other hand my cousin was dating a white girl and his mom had no problems with it except that they live as a joint family , which she had no problem with because she grew in a single parent family and loved the family atmosphere , so it really depends on his family . Another thing , not that im doubting your bf , but you should insist on meeting his parents , maybe they are ok with it and your bf is saying something else , not trying to sound mean but you should get to the crux of this . you have a child involved.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles and sincerely hope everything works out for you, your partner and your baby - fingers crossed that she'll be happy and healthy always.

Stay strong angel, you never know what might happen in the future (and I'd be amazed if a Kurdish family truly turned their back on one of their own, especially a newborn baby). I had similar problems in the early days with my husband; neither of our families were too pleased that we'd got together, but everything's just fine now - amazingly enough it was my 'modern' family that were worse!

Anyway, good luck with the birth, hope everything goes well and you work things out with your partner and his family.

Btw, I know it's pretty obvious but my favourite Kurdish name is Evîn (very appropriate in your situation too - you said she was conceived in love, what better name)

Welcome on this friendly place and I'm sure you will feel very good here, cause you gonna be among wonderful people from Kurdistan and these from other countries, but connected with Kurdistan just the way you are and me as well. I exactly know, how it is to meet the boy from this wonderful country and to fall in love with. It's forever and so strong that sometimes it's seems to be out of my imagination.
I know everything will be OK with your relationship, anyway even if your boyfriend's family will not be good with you, remember - you still live with him and that is the most important - and it's not only my european opinion, but first of all my Kurdish boyfriend thinks that way. His family is wonderfull, I didn't meet them personally, but only "talk" over internet with His Mother, Brothers, Sister and Cousins (some Cousins I know personally, cause they are in England as well).
