You speak better Soranî than many Soranî natives ( )

She said:

"slaw. ba xer beit barbarrosa!

Translation:

"Hello. (May you be) welcome Barbarrosa!
How are you?
Do you understand?"

:) So you see, she wrote three wholesentences... And that's impressive for a "half-Azeri half-Zaza Turk"...

So you are a quarter Turkmen... :) And I assume you speak Arabic - since you say you don't speak Kurdish... Yes, of course if you need any help in Kurdish (linguistics or whatever else) - I'll be happy to help out...

Do you speak Arabic in your home? Again I assume you do... Or perhaps English?

We had to flee Iran because of political prosecution - my whole tribe was in conflict with the regime which came aboard after the Shah's exhile... And the same goes for most other tribes in Colemêrg (and most people in Rojhelat Kurdistan for that matter)... So we stayed in Konya (Turkey) for a couple of years waiting to be repatriated to a third country by the UN - and were sent to Norway... :)

I am currently on my 3rd year at the university... I am studying for a Bachlor degree in "Society, Languages and Cultures at the moment - and have studied Middle East Studies for two years beforehand...

How about you, do you study or work? Where/what?

You are welcome here, yes - and so is anybody who follows our very simple and clear rules: No racist remarks/comments, no personal attacks on members of this forum and no trolling/spamming/inciting or provoking...

Simple? Yes, I know... Just make sure to remember them...

Oh and about using CAPS - please don't - because as the norm is, CAPS means you are shouting (exactly) - so no matter what YOU intend by something - be sure there will always be "somebody" who will misunderstand...

So please keep to the standard norms of writing English... Some people already have difficulties with the existing norms - and there's no need to make things harder for them - since we are a INCLUSIVE community, welcoming all sorts of people...

Dubare (Again) - Bi xêr hatî! :D

Lesson one in Kurdish:

Tê geştît? = Did you understand?
Tê ageît? = Do you understad? ("Ageît" is Silêmanî Soranî - standard Soranî is "Degeyt" - the "t" being a reference to person (pronoun = you))

So the difference is in tense - the former being in past tense and the latter being in present tense... :)
