Hello everybody..
I'm Qizilbash, as my nick indicates, I am an Alevi. Qizilbash means "Redhead" and was the name of the Turkish and Kurdish "Alevis" during the Middle Ages.

Many of today's young Alevis starts to see Alevism as a seperate religion. But traditionally this view has not existed, neither among the Turkish nor Kurdish Alevis.

I found this forum when I made searches for Alevism in Google.

If there anything else you want to know, just ask me..

Best regards
Qizilbash

:D No - in Kurdish, "Day" comes before "Good" when we say "Roj Baş"...

Roj can mean two things:

Roj = Day = Gün
Roj = Sun = Güneş

But when we say "Roj Baş" we mean "Iyi Günler"... "Roj Beer" = "Sun Beer"... Because you can see the logo is a Sun :)

Baş = Good

I hope it was clear this time :)

Hello Diri.. :D

Happy to know we are close..

There have once been some talk about an independent "Alevistan". Personally I think it could be great.. But I feel like; If we can have our rights and our options to let our culture, religion and mother tongue live, then I do not see a need for an independent state.. Also the fact that Alevis don't dominate a large enough area to talk about an Alevistan. But the Kurds do.. Diyarbakir, Hakkari, Siirt, Mardin, Urfa, Batman, Van etc. are almost exclusively Kurdish areas.
The only place in Turkey where Alevis are dominant at the same way is Dersim and some minor areas in scattered places..

Yes - you are right brother... Only Dersîm is not enough... And besides - there is talk of "Zazaistan" too in Dersîm... Which I also think is hard to do... Since it's so small...

But you know Kurds dominate 16 provinces and half of Erzurum and Kars in Turkey... So that is a large area + the areas in Iran, Iraq and Syria...

So politically - do you feel closer to a Kurdistan or a Turkey?

In my oppinion all people who wish should have their country - if the majority of the people in the area want it... :)

Zazaistan is highly unprobable.. The Kirmancki people is too small a population to do anything I think.. Dersim is not only Kirmancki/Zaza.. About 60% of the Dersim population speak Kirmancki, whilst nearly 30 percent speak Kurmanci. Besides, most of the Kurmanci Alevis of Dersim have been driven away from their original home, so they now live all over Turkey. And if we look at these persecuted Dersimis, the Kurmanci speaking Alevi Dersim population is much much greater.

Kurds actually dominate large areas besides these provinces you talk about. For example: The Ankara-Konya intersection area houses a very large Kurdish enclave. The intersection area between Corum-Tokat-Yozgat-Amasya is also the home of a great Kurdish population. Etc.

I don't know what I feel most close to. Firstly because I do not have any connection with Kurdistan, my ancestors are from the Northern Anatolian Kurdish Enclave - far away from Kurdistan. And I do not even speak my mother tongue :(. And I hardly understand the Kurdish language.. I am assimilated you can say..

But still I know I am Kurdish, and I will try to learn Kurdish..

Best regards..

Yes bira - this is the map which you speak of:

Image

But I do believe people shown spread out as Kurds in this map have been assimilated to various degrees from place to place... Especially around Amasya, Çorum, Yozgat and Tokat - which are areas where the MHP has great support among the people...

It's very sad about Dersîm - and although nobody says is except the Kurds - what the Turks did in Dersîm was a genocide as the one in Şirnex was... If you look up the definition of "Genocide" you'll see that it says - Genocide is the intent of destroying or handicaping in part or whole a group/nation/people... And that is what they did in Dersîm and Şirnex especially - but also generally all over Kurdistan... But the descriptions of what was done in Dersîm and Şirnex stand out in many ways... Burning women and children who were hiding in their caves... Why do that if your intent is not to destroy in whole or part the people of Dersîm...

God knows if those people lived today they would tell you - but those who did survive were silenced in other ways... It's sick realy...

I see brother... But you know, the most important thing is: you are not assimilated as long as you keep hold of your identity - and that is what your words are: "But still I know I am Kurdish, and I will try to learn Kurdish..." That was so beautiful, birayê min - I swear it made me so happy to read that... Because midst all this destruction and erradication of Kurdishness, words like yours make it all worth it...

Bless you...

We have a Kurdish section here - which you can use as a starting point for learning Kurdish...

Bijî bira...
