PM Barzani Announces
Opening of Four New Churches

Kurdistan Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Saturday announced that four new churches will soon be opened in Erbil and Duhok, underscoring the Kurdistan Government’s commitment to protecting holy sites of all religions

Speaking at the inauguration of the annual Nicaea academic conference in Erbil, PM Barzani said that the Kurdistan Government, through the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs, alongside giving importance to mosques, temples, and holy sites of all religions, also provides assistance and support to churches.

“We are pleased to announce here that four new churches will soon be opened in Erbil and Duhok,” he said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that his government remains dedicated to religious coexistence, noting, “We will continue to prioritize all holy sites of all religions.”

The Kurdish leader highlighted the KRG’s efforts to preserve Christian heritage and culture, pointing to initiatives such as the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts, which supports the teaching of the Syriac language. Currently, 50 schools in the Kurdistan Region teach Syriac to thousands of students.

He also recalled the government’s support for hosting the first Syriac symposium in Erbil last year.

The Nicaea conference, inspired by the historic Council of Nicaea, is being attended by prominent Christian patriarchs from Iraq and the broader Middle East.

PM Barzani welcomed the gathering, saying, “I am pleased that this important scientific conference is being held in Erbil, and I hope the outcomes of this conference will strengthen coexistence. The government will continue to uphold the principles of religious coexistence and believes in defending religious and cultural diversity.”

Turning to economic issues, the prime minister praised the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through Turkey’s Ceyhan port earlier on Saturday after more than two years of suspension.

He described the agreement as “a great achievement for the people of Iraq, especially the people of the Kurdistan Region,” and extended thanks to international partners.

“I commend all individuals and parties who played an important role, especially the United States, whether Washington, the ambassador, or the consul, for being a great support for the agreement,” he added.

KDP, PUK Leaders Discuss Cabinet Formation

Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), met with Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) traitor President Bafel Talabani on Saturday at the Primam resort in Erbil to discuss the latest political developments and efforts to form the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet

According to a statement released by the Barzani Headquarters, the meeting addressed the overall political situation in the Kurdistan Region, as well as broader developments in Iraq and the wider region.

The two leaders reportedly exchanged views on the process of forming the new KRG cabinet, signaling a potential step toward resolving the political impasse between the Kurdistan Region’s two dominant parties.

Efforts to form the KRG’s tenth cabinet have been ongoing followed the election for the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament on October 20, 2024, in which the KDP secured a majority with 39 seats and the PUK won 23 seats.

The formation of the tenth cabinet is seen as a critical step in addressing the Kurdistan Region’s political and economic challenges, as well as improving relations with Baghdad.

Stakeholders hope that a new government will strengthen governance and foster a more collaborative relationship with the federal government.

Bafel Talabani is a traitor he should be in prison, he must NOT be allowed to take part in the Kurdish government

Bafel Talabani has committed TREASON:

October 16, 2017, a faction within the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) leadership, including its current president Bafel Talabani, conspired with Iranian-backed Iraqi militia groups against the interests of the Kurdistan Region. These Kurdish areas outside the region were seized by militia forces with foreign backing
Hundreds of people were killed or injured on October 16, and about 200,000 people were displaced from the Kurdistan Region. Many of these displaced individuals have still not returned to their homes.

PM Barzani Launches Safety Guide to
Strengthen Citizen Protection in Kurdistan

Kurdistan Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday attended a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Interior to announce the launch of the “Safety Guide” a new initiative designed to enhance public safety and protect citizens’ lives and property across the region

In his speech, PM Barzani praised the Ministry of Interior, security forces, and other agencies for their dedication in maintaining security and stability in the Kurdistan Region.

“Thanks to the tireless efforts and dedication of the Ministry of Interior staff, security forces, and other security agencies, security and stability have been maintained in the Kurdistan Region,” the prime minister said.

The Safety Guide will set out regulations and standards for buildings, residential areas, warehouses, gas stations, and public projects, aiming to prevent disasters and reduce risks to citizens.

“The goal of preparing this guide is to protect citizens in these places, prevent any loss of life or property, and stop technical errors that may cause major human and material damage,” he explained.

Highlighting progress under the ninth cabinet’s reform agenda, PM Barzani said the government has equipped the Kurdistan Police with advanced technology to help them combat crime and pursue criminals more efficiently.

He also noted improvements in civil defense, including the provision of modern firefighting and rescue equipment, while stressing that prevention through adherence to safety standards remains critical.

The prime minister pointed to successful initiatives that have already yielded results, such as the installation of speed cameras, which he said have reduced traffic accidents by 50% and cut fatalities and injuries by more than 60% in targeted areas.

He added that new systems for driver education and licensing are further contributing to road safety and reducing financial losses.

The prime minister urged citizens to play their part by respecting traffic regulations, fire safety instructions, and other Ministry of Interior guidelines.

“It is the duty of the Kurdistan Regional Government to work tirelessly every day to improve the lives of citizens, but it is also very important that our beloved citizens cooperate, as without citizens, the government alone cannot succeed,” he said.

PM Barzani commended the sacrifices of security personnel and civil defense teams who risk their lives daily to protect others, and he called on all citizens to embrace safety measures in order to match Kurdistan’s development with international standards.

The launch of the Safety Guide comes as part of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ninth cabinet reform and modernization strategy, which prioritizes strengthening institutions, improving public services, and enhancing safety infrastructure.

Under Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s leadership since 2019, the government has placed emphasis on modernizing the police force, expanding e-governance, tackling corruption, and raising service standards to align with global practices.

The Ministry of Interior, one of the KRG’s largest and most important institutions, plays a dual role in both providing citizen services and ensuring law enforcement.

Recent initiatives such as traffic monitoring systems, civil defense upgrades, and safety regulations aim to reduce human and material losses while supporting sustainable development in the Kurdistan Region.

KDP and PUK Continue Formation Talks

A high-level meeting between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) was held on Tuesday under the supervision of KDP President Masoud Barzani, with discussions focusing on the formation of a new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet

During the meeting, the leaders also shed light on the resumption of parliamentary activities and preparations for Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections, according to Kurdistan 24.

The atmosphere of the meeting was positive. A senior KDP source told the report that there has been “good rapprochement between the KDP and PUK, especially on the issue of government formation,” adding that the Kurdistan Parliament is expected to resume work within the next two weeks, paving the way for cabinet formation.

A PUK source also described the talks as constructive, noting that “the meeting discussed the formation of the government and the distribution of posts,” and confirmed that more rounds of dialogue are scheduled between the two parties:

    Arrest the traitor Bafel Talabani

The KDP delegation included Deputy Leaders Nechirvan Barzani and Masrour Barzani, as well as Hoshyar Zebari, a senior member of the Political Bureau’s executive body. The PUK side was led by party leader Bafel Talabani, joined by Qubad Talabani and Darbaz Kosrat Rasul. The meeting, which lasted more than two hours, was convened at President Barzani’s initiative as part of ongoing efforts to overcome political deadlock.

The Kurdistan Parliament has been largely inactive in recent months due to disputes between the two parties, causing delays in both governance and legislative functions. The stalemate has also raised concerns among international partners who view political unity as vital for stability in the Kurdistan Region, particularly at a time when Iraq is preparing for parliamentary elections on November 11.

The outcome of the KDP-PUK dialogue will play a decisive role in shaping both the next KRG cabinet and the region’s approach to negotiations with Baghdad on key issues such as budget allocations, oil revenues, and security responsibilities.

Message of Strength, Service
    and Kurdish Unity
KDP's Erbil list head, Rebwar Hadi, unveiled the KDP's core slogan for the campaign—"Partnership, Balance, and Consensus"—and issued a powerful call to the people of Erbil to mobilize with their full strength.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - At the official launch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) electoral campaign in Erbil, the head of the party's list, Rebwar Hadi, declared that his candidates stand before an "important historical stage" with a singular, overriding mission: to serve the people and protect the national interests of Kurdistan.

In a press conference on Saturday, Hadi framed the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections not merely as a political contest, but as a defining moment for the future of the Kurdish people within the Iraqi state. He unveiled the KDP's core slogan for the campaign—"Partnership, Balance, and Consensus"—and issued a powerful call to the people of Erbil and all party supporters to mobilize with their full strength, expressing unshakeable confidence that their unified efforts would lead to a "great victory."

The campaign for the sixth term of the Iraqi Parliament officially began at midnight on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, initiating a critical period of political activity across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region that will continue until the morning of Saturday, Nov. 8, ahead of the general election on Nov. 11.

In his address, Rebwar Hadi, speaking on behalf of the KDP's list number 275 in the Erbil constituency, placed the upcoming election in a grand historical context.

"Every moment in which the people make a decision is an important and historical moment," he began. "Today, in the election campaign for the Iraqi Council of Representatives, we are before the creation of another important historical stage." He expressed his deep gratitude to the party's leadership and to President Masoud Barzani for the trust placed in him and his fellow candidates.

Hadi then articulated the central tenet of the KDP's political philosophy and its promise to the electorate. "On the glorious path of Barzani and in the school of our party and in the words and actions of our President, President Barzani, something is always repeated, and that is that the greatest goal is to serve the people and protect national interests," he stated. "That goal which our party always pursues, we the candidates of the Kurdistan Democratic Party have prepared ourselves for it with full confidence."

He made a solemn pledge that the KDP candidates consider themselves the "defenders of the rights of all classes and strata of the people of Kurdistan."

At the heart of the KDP's strategy for engaging with Baghdad is the principle of constitutional partnership. Hadi explained that the party is entering these elections with the slogan of "Partnership, Balance, and Consensus," a framework he argued is essential for the stability and functionality of the Iraqi state.

"Iraq is a country of consensus, so we must all participate. Participate in administration and in decision-making," he asserted. "Because if we establish true partnership, we can also achieve balance. When we establish balance and partnership, we can reconcile with the parties and offer more service."

However, he made it clear that this partnership is conditional upon a fundamental principle: the respect for the democratic will of the Kurdish people
"The path to our partnership must be created with respect for our will," Hadi declared. "This issue is a fundamental issue for us and it also shows that we have always been for a solution and will be for a solution." He emphasized that the KDP's approach is rooted in a sense of "national and human responsibility for coexistence and unity, but on the condition of respecting our will."

This campaign launch in Erbil is part of a broader, region-wide electoral mobilization that has been characterized by a new sense of civic order and a shift in campaign tactics.

Across the Kurdistan Region, from Duhok to Sulaimani, the start of the campaign has been notably calmer than in previous years, with a marked reduction in the disruptive public displays of posters and rallies. This is the result of a concerted effort by the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), in partnership with local municipalities, to enforce stricter regulations on campaign activities.

This new, more disciplined environment has seen a significant move towards online and social media-based campaigning, a trend also visible in Erbil, where 173 candidates are competing for 16 parliamentary seats.

The stakes are high across the Kurdistan Region, where a total of 314 candidates are vying for 46 seats in the federal parliament.

In Duhok, 58 candidates are competing for 11 seats, while in Sulaimani and Halabja, over 200 candidates are in the race for 18 seats. This intense competition underscores the importance of a strong and unified Kurdish representation in Baghdad to defend the region's constitutional rights and interests.

In his speech, Rebwar Hadi tapped into a deep well of party history and identity to rally his supporters. "We are the inheritors of a proud and sacred path," he told the dear members and supporters of the KDP. "Together, we are the force that determines the direction of history."

He urged them to be proud that their path "now and in the future is the path of service, tranquility, prosperity, and dignity."

He concluded with a powerful call to action, urging a full-throated and confident participation in the election. "Therefore, all of us with all our strength and ability, and with pride and self-confidence, will enter the field and we assure you that we will succeed," he declared.

"With the support of God Almighty and with the efforts and toil of you dear ones and with the participation of all classes and strata, and with the participation of those who are concerned with the peace and development of the Kurdistan Region, we will record a great victory and with our heads held high, once again, we will offer more service to the homeland, to Kurdistan, and to the people of Kurdistan."

The speech ended with a tribute to the foundational figures of the KDP and the sacrifices of the Peshmerga
"In the end, but with the utmost gratitude, we bow our heads in respect for the pure souls of our martyrs, foremost among them the immortal Barzani and the always-remembered Kak Idris. We send our greetings to our heroic Peshmerga," Hadi said, concluding with the powerful slogan, "Together with a strong party, towards a stronger Kurdistan."

As the campaign now gets fully underway, the KDP's message from Erbil is clear: it is a message of strength, unity, and an unwavering commitment to defending Kurdish rights through a principled and pragmatic engagement with the federal state.

Teachers Give Hope and Knowledge
to Kurdistan’s Youth

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On the occasion of World Teachers' Day, Kurdistan Region's Prime Minister Masrour Barzani extended his profound gratitude to the educators of the Kurdistan Region, commending them for their unwavering commitment to their "sacred duty." The message, delivered on Sunday, underscores a consistent theme of deep appreciation from the government's highest office, building upon a comprehensive vision for the education sector that the Prime Minister detailed just weeks earlier, where he praised teachers as the bedrock of the nation's future and outlined a series of transformative reforms aimed at building a modern, resilient, and patriotic educational system
In a post on the social network 'X' on Sunday, Prime Minister Barzani specifically congratulated "the selfless and caring teachers of Kurdistan." He offered his thanks to teachers for their "continued efforts to provide hope and knowledge to the new generation."

This concise but powerful acknowledgement comes as the region's vast educational apparatus is in full swing, with more than 1.8 million students having returned to classrooms for the new academic year. The process is managed by a massive workforce comprising over 148,000 permanent and contract teachers, alongside more than 33,000 employees, according to statistics from the Ministry of Education.

The Prime Minister's recent praise powerfully echoes the more extensive commendation he delivered on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, when he officially rang the bell to commence the 2025-2026 academic year.

Speaking at the Demdem School within the Zakho Independent Administration, he delivered a speech that was both a celebration of educational resilience and a strategic blueprint for the future. He made a point to address the immense challenges educators have faced, lauding their perseverance in the face of adversity.

"I extend my deep gratitude to our esteemed teachers who, despite all the obstacles, hardships, and salary delays, continued to teach," he stated. "Those patriotic, nationalist, and dedicated teachers have never allowed education to stop or for students to be deprived of education. I extend my great appreciation to those teachers, truly the example of dedicated and patriotic people are those teachers who, despite all those hardships, have continued again."

Looking ahead, he expressed a firm hope for a resolution to the crises and pledged the government's full support. "As the Regional Government, we will also be supportive and do everything in our power to, God willing, compensate them for their hard work," Prime Minister Barzani vowed, signaling a clear commitment to ensuring teachers receive their full rights.

A cornerstone of the Prime Minister's address during his visit to Zakho was the KRG's ambitious agenda for reforming and modernizing the education sector. He lauded the Ministry of Education for its significant strides, particularly the implementation of the "E-Parwarda" (E-Learning) system.

He described this digital transformation as a "historic achievement" that is "exemplary at the regional and Middle Eastern level." He explained, "The 'E-Parwarda' system that has been initiated is truly a historic achievement, as it has digitized a vast amount of educational data across the Kurdistan Region, making it available to teachers and officials. This will greatly facilitate decision-making based on scientific principles for whatever is needed in education and for their schools."

Alongside technological advancement, the government has embarked on a massive infrastructure program to improve the learning environment. "More than 200 schools have been built, and nearly 2,000 schools have been renovated across the Kurdistan Region," the Prime Minister stated in his speech.

KRG Minister of Education, Dr. Alan Hama Saeed, later clarified that during the ninth cabinet's term, 274 new schools have been built, creating 110,000 new places for students. Ministry spokesperson Saman Siwaili added that a total of 2,100 schools have been renovated, with 400 of those completed this year alone.

These efforts, which include a "school expansion" program to add classrooms to existing facilities, have successfully reduced the number of schools operating on an undesirable third shift to just 11 across the entire region.

In his appeal to the educational community, Prime Minister Barzani also emphasized the importance of instilling core values in the next generation. He called for a renewed focus on patriotism and environmental stewardship. "Our country is a beloved country, a sacred land. It is the land of our fighters, the land of the martyrs who shed their blood for it," he said passionately.

"I hope you will also protect this clean country. Teachers, it is necessary to make students understand the importance of environmental protection, as well as the importance of patriotism—that we and this land are inseparable." He concluded by calling for a classroom dynamic built on mutual respect, urging a "healthy and positive relationship between students and teachers, one based on affection and respect, not fear or compulsion."

As over 1.8 million public school students and an additional 154,000 in private institutions settle into their studies, they are part of an educational system undergoing profound and strategic change. The Prime Minister's consistent praise for their teachers is more than rhetoric; it is a recognition of their vital role in a nation-building project that sees education as the ultimate guarantor of a bright and prosperous future.

With an unwavering belief that "these children will become leaders," the KRG is backing its words with historic investments in technology, infrastructure, and the human capital embodied by its dedicated educators.

Eighty percent of PUK demands met

Eighty percent of the demands presented by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) during government formation negotiations have been accepted by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), a senior KDP official confirmed to Rudaw on Wednesday

"In our last meeting - according to the PUK themselves - 80 percent of their demands were met. Well, if a party believes that 80 percent of the joint program for the future phase is in place, then doesn’t the interest of the Kurdistani people require letting go of the remaining 20 percent? This is true for both of us," said Dilshad Shahab, a member of the KDP’s Central Committee.

He added that the main sticking point in the ongoing cabinet formation talks between the two ruling parties is the distribution of positions.

Simple: Bafel Talabani is a traitor and belongs in prison
Shahab, who is also part of the KDP’s negotiating delegation, said the disagreements are not over a specific position, but rather over the method of distribution.

"It's not about one specific thing - it's about posts. For context: whether you calculate by vote share or parliamentary seats, or go by previous agreements - excluding the 50-50 strategic agreement - what’s currently being offered to the PUK is more than ever before," he noted.

The Kurdistan Region held its long-delayed parliamentary election nearly a year ago, in October 2024. The KDP won 39 of the 100 seats in parliament, followed by the PUK with 23. As has traditionally been the case, the two parties are working toward forming a coalition government.

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, who also serves as the KDP’s first deputy leader, said during a panel at the Middle East Research Institute (MERI) Forum in Erbil on Wednesday that both parties have resolved most of the major obstacles to forming the tenth cabinet - except for party shares in the new government.

“What remains [unsolved] is the distribution of positions. I acknowledge that it has taken a long time, and I don’t want to make excuses or defend the delay. I believe we should have formed the government earlier. But we must adapt to the reality on the ground, not just to our hopes. I wish we could have formed the government in March or April, but there are still some obstacles and a lack of trust that must be addressed,” President Barzani explained.

However, PUK Leader Bafel Talabani offered a differing perspective from that of the KDP officials - particularly regarding the issue of position distribution.

Speaking at the MERI Forum on Tuesday, Talabani attributed the delay in forming the cabinet to systemic issues “rather than [the allocation of] posts.”

Only one position for Bafel Talabani, in prison
He said his party was engaged in “quite detailed” discussions with the KDP and emphasized the need for a government that is “fair, transparent, and focused on the real problems of Kurdistan.”

“We want partnership,” Talabani said, addressing the KDP. “We want to be involved in the decision-making process.”

Bafel Talabani previous decision gave vast amounts of Kurdistan to Iraq
For his part, Shahab stressed that the KDP is committed to activating the parliament, which has not yet convened beyond the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected lawmakers.

"We want to respect the people’s vote. It is embarrassing for all of us that the government hasn't been formed yet - it’s embarrassing for the KDP as well. But how guilty are we in this delay, and what more should we do?" he asked.

Kurdistan Committed to Religious Freedom

Kurdistan Prime Minister Masrour Barzani inaugurated the Um Al-Nour Church in the Ankawa district of Erbil on Sunday, emphasizing the government’s commitment to religious freedom and coexistence

In his speech at the opening ceremony, PM Barzani said the church, built by the KRG’s Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, is intended to serve as an important place of worship for Christian residents and as a center for promoting interfaith dialogue.

“I hope that this church will become an important place of worship for the Christian brothers and sisters in Ankawa and a center for further development of brotherhood and friendship between religions,” he said.

The prime minister highlighted the plight of Christians displaced by ISIS attacks in Mosul, the Nineveh Plains, and other areas.

“In recent years, thousands of our Christian brothers and sisters have been forced to leave their homes and seek refuge in the Kurdistan Region, especially in Ankawa, where they can live in peace and tranquility,” he noted.

He emphasized the KRG’s ongoing efforts to restore stability to the Nineveh Plains, enabling displaced Christians to return home safely and freely.

“The Kurdistan Regional Government will continue its efforts to end the imposed situation in the Nineveh Plains and create a peaceful environment so that our brothers and sisters can return to their homes and churches with dignity,” PM Barzani said.

The Kurdish leader also referenced recent initiatives for other religious communities, including a road project near the Lalish Temple for Yezidis and the foundation-laying ceremony for the Al-Azhar Religious Institute
He stressed that these projects reflect the KRG’s commitment to the Region’s religious diversity and the promotion of coexistence.

“The Kurdistan Regional Government will continue to promote the message of peace, coexistence, and respect for all religions, not only in the Kurdistan Region but throughout the Middle East,” he said.

The Kurdistan Region has served as a refuge for minority communities fleeing violence in northern Iraq, particularly since the rise of ISIS in 2014. Tens of thousands of Christians were displaced from Mosul and the Nineveh Plains, many seeking safety in Ankawa and other districts of Erbil.

The KRG has actively supported the reconstruction of religious sites and infrastructure, framing these efforts as both humanitarian and political measures to foster interfaith coexistence and maintain social stability
Initiatives like the Um Al-Nour Church are part of broader strategies to protect religious minorities and encourage the return of displaced populations to their historical homelands.

President Masoud Barzani Launches KDP Campaign

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) officially launched its campaign for the sixth Iraqi parliamentary elections in Erbil on Sunday, with President Masoud Barzani delivering a keynote speech emphasizing unity, democracy, and the protection of Kurdish and Iraqi rights

Addressing party members and supporters, President Barzani expressed his delight at the meeting attendees and underscored the significance of the upcoming election.

“Every election is important; each occurs under different circumstances,” he said, calling on party members to work collectively toward victory for KDP’s List 275.

Barzani praised the inclusion of Arab and Turkmen candidates on the KDP list, describing their participation as a testament to the party’s inclusive vision.

“Your presence on the list strengthens the KDP and reflects our commitment to defending the rights of all Iraqis,” he stated.

Reflecting on Iraq’s history, Barzani noted that the Iraqi state was founded on the idea of partnership between Kurds and Arabs, but that Kurds have long faced injustice and unfulfilled promises. He pointed in particular to the lack of compensation for victims of the Anfal campaign and chemical attacks
“Despite enduring oppression, the Kurdish people have always stood with dignity and sought peace,” President Barzani said, recalling the multiple attempts at coexistence in the 1960s and the autonomy agreement of 1970.

“The slogan of the September Revolution was ‘Democracy for Iraq, autonomy for Kurdistan,’ and that vision remains vital today.”

Barzani highlighted moments of Kurdish humanity in Iraq’s modern history, such as the humane treatment of captured Iraqi soldiers in 1991, and reiterated that the fall of the Ba’ath regime in 2003 presented an opportunity to build a democratic and federal Iraq.

“We went to Baghdad with pure intentions and a strong will to establish a new Iraq based on partnership, balance, and compromise,” he said. “The constitution that was adopted afterwards, though not perfect, could have prevented many of today’s problems had it been properly implemented.”

The KDP President also criticized the current electoral law, calling it “unfair” and urging reforms to ensure equal representation in future elections.

Turning to ongoing disputes with Baghdad, Barzani cited several constitutional articles affirming Iraq’s federal nature and diversity.

“Article 1 clearly states that Iraq is a federal state, not a central one,” he emphasized. “Article 3 defines Iraq as a country of multiple nationalities, religions, and sects — meaning it cannot be ruled by one group alone.”

President Barzani stated that the issue of oil and gas is frequently discussed. Once again, we have been in Baghdad for over a week discussing these two articles, particularly Article 111, which states: Oil and gas are owned by all the people of Iraq in all the regions and governorates. We agree with this article.

Article 112 also states: First: The federal government, with the producing governorates and regional governments, shall undertake the management of oil and gas extracted from present fields, provided that it distributes its revenues in a fair manner in proportion to the population distribution in all parts of the country, specifying an allotment for a specified period for the damaged regions which were unjustly deprived of them by the former regime, and the regions that were damaged afterwards in a way that ensures balanced development in different areas of the country, and this shall be regulated by a law.

Second: The federal government, with the producing regional and governorate governments, shall together formulate the necessary strategic policies to develop the oil and gas wealth in a way that achieves the highest benefit to the Iraqi people using the most advanced techniques of the market principles and encouraging investment.

Barzani also called for unity and perseverance, encouraging KDP candidates and supporters to stand together in defense of democracy and Kurdish rights.

“What matters most is that our list wins,” he said. “You are all brothers and sisters, and together we will continue our struggle for a prosperous and democratic Iraq.”

KDP VP Nechirvan Barzani Urges Kurdish Unity

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Nechirvan Barzani, Vice President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), delivered a speech during the party’s election campaign rally in Erbil on Tuesday, calling for Kurdish unity and strong representation in Baghdad to safeguard the rights of the people of the Kurdistan Region

Barzani welcomed the large gathering of supporters and emphasized that many of the ongoing issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government stem from the non-implementation of Iraq’s constitution. He underscored the need to uphold the constitution as the foundation for resolving disputes and ensuring justice for all components of Iraq.

“At this critical stage, the constitution must be enforced,” Barzani said. “To strengthen the rights of the Kurds, we must be united and strong in Baghdad.”

Expressing gratitude to KDP supporters, Barzani praised their role in the party’s previous electoral success. “I thank you all; you have brought the KDP to 800,000 votes, but this time our goal is to reach one million votes,” he stated, urging voters to mobilize for the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections.

Quoting President Masoud Barzani, he added, “President Barzani has taught us that the KDP is a tool, and Kurdistan is the goal for all of us.”

Barzani described the KDP as a symbol of progress and pride in Kurdistan’s modern history. “Wherever the KDP is present, there is prosperity,” he said, noting that the Kurdish people have entrusted the KDP with a mandate for development and stability.

Highlighting the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) achievements, he remarked, “What the KDP is doing in Erbil is not insignificant; it is a source of pride for all members and supporters of the KRG. The prosperity achieved so far is just the beginning of what the government will accomplish for the region in the future.”
He reaffirmed that peace, security, and coexistence remain the cornerstones of the KDP’s vision and leadership, emphasizing that political progress in Iraq must be achieved through democratic means. “Resolving issues and advancing the political process in Iraq must occur at the ballot box,” he said, encouraging citizens to participate in the upcoming elections.

Concluding his address, Barzani stressed that the KDP is the guarantor of the Kurdish people’s achievements in Baghdad. “If the KDP is strong in Baghdad, Kurdistan will be strong,” he declared, calling on all Kurdish parties to unite in the Iraqi capital to protect and promote the rights of the Kurdistan Region’s citizens.

KDP sends lawmakers to Baghdad
to 'fight' for Kurdistan's rights

Deputy President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Masrour Barzani said on Thursday that they send representatives to the Iraqi parliament to "fight for the rights of the people of Kurdistan," during his party's rally in Erbil for the November legislative vote

"Our representatives in Baghdad will advocate for the rights of all components," Barzani, who is also the prime minister of the Kurdistan Region, told his party's supporters.

Barzani hailed Iraq's parliamentary elections as "crucial" and said "we must go to Baghdad to fight to achieve the constitutional rights of the people."

Campaigning for Iraq’s November elections began on October 3 and will continue until November 8. Security forces and special voters will cast their ballots on November 9, followed by the general election on November 11.

Under 'Partnership, Balance, and Agreement," ruling KDP officially on Sunday launched its campaigning for the November vote, in an event where President Masoud Barzani delivered a speech, urging a "calm" campaigning.

The deputy president of the KDP said his party eyes maintaining "stronger relations" with other sides in Baghdad in order to "implement the Constitution, to achieve all the rights of the people of Kurdistan."

"The KDP representatives must defend the rights of all Iraqi components, and defend the rights of the oppressed. Our representatives must go there to serve justice."

Barzani reiterated his call on the KDP supporters to campaign "in a peaceful and civilized way."

Barzani's comments came hours after the office of a Yazidi candidate running on the KDP's ticket for the November legislative elections, was set ablaze in Shingal, Nineveh province by unidentified individuals at dawn.

The KDP has traditionally had the strongest fan base in Erbil, Duhok, and Nineveh provinces.

Of a total of 175 names, KDP has 30 candidates in Erbil, who vye for the province's 16 seats.

Serious Efforts Underway
to Form New KRG Cabinet

Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), said that the Kurdistan Government’s (KRG) new cabinet will likely be formed before the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections, emphasizing that serious efforts are underway to make it happen

Speaking at an expanded meeting with Islamic clerics and representatives of other religious communities in the Kurdistan Region, Barzani said: “We hope that the Kurdistan Government will be formed before the Iraqi parliamentary elections, and there is serious work being done toward that.”

Barzani underlined that “every citizen has the right to vote freely,” while stressing the importance of valuing the efforts made to serve Kurdistan’s cities and maintain security and stability “without discrimination.” He added that the region “will continue its efforts to stand with those who recognize the rights of its people and defend them.”

Expressing gratitude, Barzani praised the people of Kurdistan for their resilience, saying they had “endured injustice with patience and faith” and continued to participate in elections “for the sake of Kurdistan’s interests” despite challenges.

The KDP leader also warned of longstanding “schemes targeting Kurdistan,” describing them as a historical policy pursued by successive Iraqi governments. “Through our unity alone can we face all these challenges, for the sake of the people and the future of Kurdistan,” he said.

Barzani further accused adversaries of attempting to “erase the authentic culture of the Kurdish people by introducing alien customs,” but voiced confidence that “with God’s help and your unity, this attempt will fail.”
Highlighting the Region’s tradition of coexistence, Barzani said the diversity of Kurdistan represents “the most beautiful image of pluralism in the world.” He noted that terrorism has “never distinguished between religions” and warned against divisions within the community.

He also urged religious scholars and clerics to play a greater role in promoting unity and spreading compassion, while raising alarm over the spread of narcotics, which he described as “the scourge of the age and a threat to the cohesion of youth.”

Confronting this challenge, Barzani stressed, is “a collective responsibility” that must be based on faith and cooperation across all religions.

Free and Peaceful Elections

Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), met on Monday with a number of university professors, writers, journalists, intellectuals, artists, and athletes in Erbil, where he discussed Iraq’s upcoming sixth parliamentary elections and key national and regional issues

Barzani began by expressing his pleasure at meeting the group, emphasizing that elections represent a fundamental democratic process that allows people to freely determine their destiny and choose their representatives. “Elections are a matter of principle and belief for us,” he said, recalling that even during the 1991 uprising in Koye, he had called for holding elections as a cornerstone of legitimacy and democracy.

He noted that the first free elections in the Kurdistan Region were held in 1992, which laid the groundwork for building the region’s institutions. Similarly, Iraq’s first democratic elections took place in 2005 following the adoption of the country’s constitution after the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime.

Barzani said the constitution remains a positive framework, even if it does not fulfill all aspirations. “If this constitution were implemented, many of the problems in Iraq and in relations between Erbil and Baghdad would not exist,” he said.

Barzani stressed that the central government in Baghdad must move away from the culture of dominance and instead adhere to the federal principles of the constitution. He underlined that the rights of the Kurdish people are constitutional and sacred, earned through the blood and sacrifices of thousands of martyrs.

“No one has done us a favor for these achievements—they belong to our people, and we will not accept anything less than what the constitution guarantees,” he said.

On the economic front, Barzani referred to the ongoing oil and gas negotiations between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the federal government, and oil companies, expressing hope that the new tripartite agreement would serve as the basis for a comprehensive oil and gas law.

He also denounced the previous cuts to Kurdistan’s budget and salaries, calling them “a great injustice comparable in pain to the Anfal genocide and chemical attacks,” as they targeted the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.

Turning to social and cultural issues, Barzani urged intellectuals and artists to confront what he described as a “strange culture” spreading in Kurdistan, one that aims to weaken national identity and distance Kurdish youth from their homeland. He called on them to use their pens and ideas to preserve Kurdish values and promote cultural coexistence, warning against forces seeking to sow despair and division.

Barzani highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s progress in education, infrastructure, electricity, and water management, emphasizing the importance of building dams and adopting sound environmental policies to protect nature and address future water shortages. “We must ensure our people never face a water crisis,” he said, stressing that environmental protection and sustainable development are priorities for future generations.

Regarding the upcoming election campaign, Barzani called for a calm and respectful process, urging all parties to avoid violence and allow voters to freely choose their preferred candidates. “Everyone is free to campaign and vote as they wish,” he said.

Barzani also touched on the internal political situation, revealing that following the last regional elections, the KDP invited all parties to form a broad-based government, but some declined and chose to remain in opposition.

He noted that the KDP and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) have since reached a strong agreement on the new government’s work program, which he described as well-organized and comprehensive. He expressed hope that the new Kurdistan Regional Government would be formed before the Iraqi parliamentary elections.

Barzani concluded by reaffirming that the KDP and KRG remain committed to building a strong infrastructure for future generations and serving all citizens of Kurdistan to ensure “a happy, bright, and healthy future” for the nation.

Kurdistan PM Barzani Opens
Historic Beri-Hajeri Hotel

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani officially inaugurated the newly renovated Beri-Hajeri Hotel on Wednesday, in the town of Sarsank near the Amadi district border

The hotel, covering an area of 15,000 square meters, offers accommodations for approximately 150 guests. Originally established in 1946 and officially opened to tourists in 1951, the hotel has long been a landmark destination for visitors to the region.

Its recent renovation modernizes the facility while preserving its historical significance, ensuring it meets contemporary standards for comfort and service.

Speaking at the inauguration, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the importance of supporting private sector initiatives in Kurdistan, noting that investments in tourism infrastructure not only create jobs but also showcase the region’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.

His participation underscores the KRG’s commitment to promoting tourism as a key driver of economic growth and diversification.

The Beri-Hajeri Hotel renovation aligns with the KRG’s broader strategy to develop the tourism sector, which focuses on improving infrastructure, supporting private investments, and marketing the Kurdistan Region as a safe and attractive destination for both domestic and international visitors.

Over the past decade, the government has launched initiatives to enhance historical sites, develop new hotels and resorts, and invest in transportation and hospitality training programs, aiming to boost tourism revenues and create sustainable economic opportunities for local communities.

By revitalizing historic hotels and encouraging new projects, the KRG seeks to position the Kurdistan Region as a leading tourism hub in the Middle East, balancing modern amenities with rich cultural and natural experiences.

Prime Minister Barzani’s active role in inaugurations like the Beri-Hajeri Hotel demonstrates the government’s commitment to fostering a vibrant tourism industry and supporting private sector growth across the region.

Barzani Inspects Key Road Projects
Stresses Infrastructure and Safety

Kurdistan Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Thursday reaffirmed his cabinet’s commitment to expanding and modernizing transportation infrastructure, underscoring that several key road projects are being implemented to improve safety, reduce congestion, and connect major population centers across the Region

During his field visit, PM Barzani inspected the dual-lane Erbil–Koya and Kesnazan–Gomaspan road projects, both of which are central to the KRG’s broader plan to enhance mobility and support local development. He described the Erbil–Koya project as “another commitment we are fulfilling for our people,” noting that the upgraded road will significantly reduce travel time and improve driving conditions for commuters and cargo transport.

The Erbil–Koya project, implemented by domestic engineering and construction firms, will transform the existing single-lane route into a high-standard dual-lane corridor. The project includes modern safety features and aims to lower the risk of accidents, a major issue on the old road that had become increasingly unsafe due to growing traffic volumes.

The prime minister also reviewed progress on the dual-lane Kesnazan–Gomaspan road project, which spans 15 kilometers and features advanced engineering components designed to ensure durability and safety. Each side of the road exceeds 10 meters in width and includes dual main lanes, a service lane, and a network of bridges, underpasses, and culverts.

The project includes four main bridges, one underpass, and 40 culverts of varying sizes to ensure proper water flow and prevent erosion. Protective embankments and a comprehensive drainage system are being constructed to safeguard the road against flooding and weather-related damage.

Implemented by Heman Group, the project represents a collaboration between the KRG and the private sector to deliver modern, long-lasting infrastructure. PM Barzani commended the engineers, supervisors, and workers for their dedication and urged them to maintain high technical standards while completing the project within schedule.

“These projects are essential for improving public safety, supporting trade, and connecting communities,” the Kurdish leader said during the visit. He added that such infrastructure investments form the backbone of the KRG’s strategy to promote balanced regional development and attract private investment.

The KRG’s ongoing efforts to expand and modernize road networks come as part of a broader post-pandemic recovery plan aimed at strengthening the economy and improving access to essential services. Officials say that improved road connectivity between Erbil, Koya, and surrounding districts will not only reduce travel times but also facilitate economic growth, improve logistics, and enhance overall quality of life.

In recent years, the KRG has prioritized strategic infrastructure projects as part of its long-term vision for sustainable development, linking rural and urban centers through safer and more efficient transport routes.
