yes,we did capture lots of T-72s. but the question is,are they still operational?
and even if they were, they would be obsolete. they are asad babils. it is a heavily downgraded version of the T-72.
i would rather see our T-62s being upgraded to T-62M (or even better,T-55/62AGMs) than see our forces with Asad babils.
T-62M:

We continue to unify Peshmarga forces, says Imad Ahmed

ERBIL, August 12 (AKnews) – The Kurdistan Region's Deputy Prime Minister Imad Ahmed announced that part of the process of unifying Peshmarga forces has been completed and they will continue the process.

Ahmed accompanied the Minister of Peshmarga Jafar Mustafa and his deputy Anwar Osman and visited regiment 1 of troops brigade 1 of the united forces of the Kurdistan Region near Kirkuk yesterday.

Ahmed confirmed that they are working seriously to unify Peshmarga forces under one law, train forces, provide weapons and meet Peshmerga demands.

The Kurdistan Regional Government believes stabilizing security and meeting the demands of residents in disputed areas is the government's responsibility, added Ahmed.

With regards to the Peshmarga budget, the deputy said: "The Iraqi government must think of a basic solution to the Peshmarga budget in accordance with the constitution, which is part of the defense system in the country."

Erbil continues integration of Peshmarga and confirms responsibility for security in disputed areas

ERBIL, Aug. 12 (AKnews) - The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) stated Sunday that it has implemented the first step to integrate the regional guard forces (Peshmarga) and will continue to complete the process within the legal framework, confirming its responsibility for protecting the disputed areas.

In April the Kurdistan Region decided to integrate the Peshmarga, which includes members from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan led by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by the Kurdistan Region's President Massoud Barzani.

A government statement issued on Sunday quoted Deputy Prime Minister Imad Ahmed while visiting members of the Peshmarga stationed near Kirkuk. He said: "We are seeking to unify the Peshmarga forces and pay more attention to training and armament."

Ahmed was speaking during a Ramadan banquet held yesterday at the barracks of the first regiment of infantry, accompanied by the Minister of Peshmerga Jafar Mustafa stationed near Kirkuk.

Ahmed said the Kurdish authorities "consider themselves responsible for providing security and stability for all areas disputed between Erbil and Baghdad”.

to ssc members that love visiting our forum: "Fishkhabur is kurdish and will remain kurdish, it is part of Duhok (Google it) do not listen to what shaytan claims, i can claim all day that Basra is iranian but the facts and truth will say otherwise, forget Fishkhabur, even Kurdish ninevah areas that are under KRG "unofficially" are and will be part of kurdistan let alone Fishkhabur that has been kurdish since kurdistan was attached to iraq (see willayat Mosul map) it has never been iraqi and it will never be iraqi, we do not care your pipeline goes thru it, when we divorce iraq we will charge you for using our soil, it is essential as it is the border point of south kurdistan witk North kurdistan and west kurdistan, you have no chance of invading or occupying it, buy your selves a nice binoculars and look at it from where Peshmerga and iraqi army are still in stand off at Zummar, and they are still at stand off yes , there is no "joint" force and the IA did not enter Zumar as your milky iranian told you, we have learned from Jalawla and Sadyea and we will not allow 1 iraqi soldier step foot into Zumar, if you do then you have to go to war with entire kurdistan and its army not just Zumar, so grab yourselves a drink and keep your minds busy with something that is realistic and achievable", kidos.

any Kurd regardless of which artificial border he is located at can join the kurdistan army Peshmerga, they must pass the above requirements i mentioned above but i have heard there are exemptions i am not sure what they might be, if any of you interested pay a visit to KRG-Peshemrga ministry in Erbil (i have the address if any1 interested) and find out what are the requirements to join the Peshmerga. i am sure they will gladly hand you over the submission form and off you go, it is an attractive payroll of you ask me and you get bonuses.
